Rotary Wines & Dines To Benefit Boys & Girls Club

OAKHURST – The 7th annual Rotary Evening at Erna’s will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Apr. 14, at Erna’s Elderberry House to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Oakhurst.

Rotary Club members, under the direction of Executive Chef Jonathan Perkins, will prepare a four-course meal with three wine pairings.A puree of Kern Family Farm’s spinach soup with yam latke, spring garlic, applewood bacon and crème fraiche will start the dining experience, followed by a salad of crisp lettuces topped with Chesapeake Bay blue crab, toasted brioche, citrus aioli, shaved fennel and blood orange.

The evening’s entree is Black Angus Beef Steak ‘Girardi’ with a classic sauce of bacon, capers, onion, parsnip and mushroom, served with crushed golden potatoes and San Joaquin Valley asparagus. Dark Chocolate Terrine and Pear Charlotte will be served for dessert.

Each course is paired with wine and is included in the price.

Assisting in the kitchen will be Dr. Mike Horasanian, Cynthia Sobel, Nancy Brumbaugh, Janet Stanovich, Sandy Miller, Andrew Pence and Dave Smith.

Doug Macaulay, Rotary president, will serve as maitre d’hotel. Serving will be captain Fern Faccino, Sheri Lee and her husband Jim, Marc Sobel, Adrian Buca, Victor Weitzel, Dennis Roberts, Dan Rule, Tim Madden and Randy Papike.

The 2013 Platinum Sponsor is Sierra Telephone, Yosemite Bank is the Gold Sponsor, Silver Sponsors are Idea Print Works, Macaulay Associates and Dr. Robert Brosi.

This year’s proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Oakhurst, whose mission it is “to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.”

Tickets are still available at Yosemite Bank in Oakhurst, and cost is $125 per person.
