HENSLEY LAKE – Firefighters are on scene of a roadside vegetation fire just south of Hensley Lake on Road 400.
Just before 12:30 p.m., reports came in of a fire burning along Road 400 near Road 406. A full wildland dispatch was called out, including aircraft out of Hollister.
The first unit at scene reported the fire at about 4 acres, burning between Road 400 and the canal on the west side of the road, with a moderate rate of spread.
At 12:50 p.m., the Battalion Chief canceled the incoming aircraft, and is confident they can handle the incident with equipment at scene, a few incoming engines, two hand crews and a dozer.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
UPDATE: At 1:14 p.m. the fire was contained. The Incident Commander estimates two hours for mop-up and control.
