Rivergold Hawkfest Deemed Soaring Success

COARSEGOLD — Rivergold Elementary School held its 21st Annual Hawk Festival on Friday, Sept. 27, and had a great night with lots of fun and shenanigans.

The always-anticipated event is the single largest PTA fundraiser of the year, and this time included a barbeque dinner provided by Coarsegold Miner’s Grill.

That’s not all!

Participants in the exciting evening festival also got to do some face painting, play in petting zoo, indulge in a dunk tank, slide down outrageous inflatables, and get crazy in a silly string corral. Fortune telling, a bake walk, raffles and a live auction were all part of the action.

“Thank you to everyone who helped out and supported our fabulous school,” say PTA organizers, “We couldn’t be happier with the outcome… it was a fabulous night!

Special thanks to Rivergold 6th grade teacher Jessica Medrano and Principal Cindy Simons for sending photos.

Earlier in September, students, teachers, staff and families enjoyed a “yummy” back to school barbeque. On Friday, Sept. 6, Rivergold celebrated Grandparents Day.

Meanwhile, between all the celebrating, parties and festivals, students are always absorbing lessons whether in class or out.

The fourth grade, for instance, is currently studying California history by making relief maps using flour and water.
