Report That Barking Dog Online

Well it is official, the Madera County 311 Service Center and Citizen Request website is operational as of August 1st, at www.madco311.com. Along with the County’s new website at www.madera-county.com, this new resource adds a new streamlined way for us to do busines with Madera County, and may eliminate some long trips down the mountain.

The Madco311 Service Center gives citizens the ability to report or request a wide variety of things. A quick preview of the options currently available are:

Report an Animal Complaint – There are 14 different categories of animal complaints that can be reported through the site, from loose livestock to barking dogs. In addition, these complaints are conveniently mapped on the website so that you can see how many complaints are open, and if the item you want to report has already been reported. You will be able to track the progress of the complaints and discover when and how the item is resolved.

Request an Animal License – If you need a new animal license, or need to renew a license, this is a great way to do it, and soon residents will be able to pay these fees online.

General Constituent Complaints – Through this process you can submit items such as building code violations, road repairs, health code violations and many others.

Public Records Request – Need to view a public document through the Public Records Act? Simply complete an online form to request the information you need.

The Frequently Asked Questions (or FAQ) tab seemed very helpful as well. For instance I searched for “job” under Human Resources, and was able to get some results that would be very helpful to someone seeking employment with the County.

The 311 Call Center is also a great way to get questions answered and be put in touch with the right person, the first time. I recently called 311 because I was having trouble finding the number of a County Department. The operator who answered my call was courteous, and I was immediately transferred to the resource I was looking for.

The Madco311 website is a work in progress, and will be expanded and dialed in over the next many months. This will grow into what will surely become an invaluable resource for our citizens, and it appears that the new County website, the Madco311 site, and the new 311 phone service shows a desire by our county government to streamline and operate as efficiently as possible.

I am told that this is only the beginning, and that there will be a lot more automated services implement through the county websites in the very near future. Keep checking back to see what’s new!
