OAKHURST — Mountain area home sales remained relatively robust during the first four months of 2020, according to Ed Bailey, of Ed Bailey Realty in Oakhurst.
“Our mountain area home sales were better during the first trimester — January through April — of this year than last year,” Bailey reported this week.
During the first four months of the year, area Realtors sold 174 homes, compared to 142 homes during the same period in 2019, Bailey said. The median sales price was $320,000 compared to $297,450 in 2019.
“The average number of days a property stayed on the market was 88, compared to 101 last year,” Bailey added. The average size of homes included in the most recent report was 1,935 square feet — and the average price per square price for sold properties was $179.20.
And while real estate experts say it is still too early to gauge how the COVID-19 pandemic will impact home prices and sales activity going forward, it appears to continue to be a seller’s market in the mountain area, with the median purchase price during the first four months of 2020 coming in at 96 percent of asking price, compared to 97 percent during the same time last year.
