Public Notice: Reduction of Clerk’s Office Hours, Madera County Superior Court

PURSUANT TO CALIFORNIA GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 68106 AND THE CALIFORNIA RULES OF COURT, RULE 10.620
NOTICE OF REDUCTION OF CLERK’S OFFICE HOURS

MADERA – Pursuant to the above-referenced Government Code Section and California Rule of Court, the Madera County Superior Court is providing a sixty (60) day notice in the required form and to the required entities that it plans to reduce the hours of the Clerk’s operations located at 200 South G Street.

Effective Wednesday, November 25, 2020, the regular hours for the Clerk’s Offices will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., excluding judicial holidays. Specifically, the following Offices/Divisions will be open to receive filings and respond to inquiries from 8:00
a.m. to 3:00 p.m.: Traffic, Criminal, Juvenile and Civil. These hours will remain in effect until further notice.

Pursuant to California Rule of Court 2.210, drop boxes for Traffic, Criminal, Juvenile and Civil filings will be available for use between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. each court day. Any document deposited in a drop box up to 4:00 p.m. on a court day is deemed to have been deposited for filing that day. No cash payments are accepted via a drop box.

The Jury Office will be open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., or as needed to accommodate jurors or juror inquiries.

The Self-Help Office will remain closed for walk-in assistance; however, in-person services will be provided as ordered by the court and by appointment.

The reception desk of Family Court Services will be open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; however, scheduled appointments and interviews may extend beyond 3:00 p.m.

This action is necessary to accommodate for the reduction in staff hours resulting from the budget crisis in the State of California caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. County Superior Court realized a $678k budget reduction for the 2020-21 Fiscal Year, and the action of reducing staff hours was unavoidable.
