Prison Escapee Captured In Madera County

MADERA COUNTY – A Chowchilla woman wanted for prison escape in Nebraska is back behind bars after being captured in north Madera last night.

Connie Torres, 23, aka Connie Marquez, was taken into custody shortly before 10 p.m. on Monday, Mar. 11, following a traffic stop near Sonora and Adell Streets.Torres was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

The Chowchilla woman was taken into custody without incident and booked in to Madera County Department of Corrections on felony drug charges, and where she now awaits extradition to Nebraska.

According to Nebraska authorities, Torres, who was sentenced in July 2012, was serving a 2 to 4 year prison term for Narcotics and Child abuse when she escaped.
