Prepare To Be Dazzled: Oakhurst Christmas Tree Auction

BASS LAKE — The annual Oakhurst Community Christmas Tree Auction is a wonderfully unique event that benefits some of the area’s most essential community organizations, spreading quite a bit of holiday cheer in the process.

Hosted by The Boys & Girls Club of Oakhurst, and held at The Pines Resort, the joyful event enables dozens of nonprofits to benefit from its proceeds. Participating organizations range from service clubs to churches and community committees. This year’s event is already sold out.

How does it work? Participating nonprofits who sign up bring a fully-decorated wreath, table top tree, or full size tree. The items sometimes even come with awesome gifts.

Offered at auction by a professional auctioneer, each item typically brings in hundreds-to-thousands of dollars. All raffle and silent auction items are of high value and there’s a wide range of fun items to bid on, with something for everyone.

“We have twenty live auction items this year, ten full size trees, five wreaths and five tabletops,” says this year’s committee chair, local business owner Jessica Steele of Grocery Outlet Bargain Market.

“This year we have such an exciting and diverse group of participants, and they are going to wow you with their creativity. We have some great themed trees: Marvel, Dr. Seuss, Lego. We also have a full size carved bear that we’ll be auctioning off, and our wine tree raffle is happening, as well as some amazing raffle and silent auction items.”

The best part is the fun people have while giving back to our local community in a significant way.

Participating groups and organizations include Be The Power of One, Boys and Girls Club of Oakhurst, Children’s Hospital, FFA, Golden Chain Theatre, Helping Hands, Hillside Elementary, MomSquad, Mountain Bear Fan Club, Lions Club, Raymond Elementary, Rotary, Sierra Pines, Soroptimist, Sunrise Rotary, Wild Wonderful Women, Woodcarvers, Yosemite Cheer, YHS Wrestling, and 49Ears,

Last year’s event brought some new and exciting differences, including a change of day and time from Sunday afternoon to Friday evening, but one thing hasn’t changed: champagne is poured through the end of the live auction.

The Oakhurst Community Christmas Tree Auction is slated for Friday, Nov. 30 at The Pines Resort.

Doors open to the Lakeview Room at 5:30 p.m. and the party goes until 11 p.m. Guests will enjoy a sit-down dinner of filet mignon.
