Planning Dept. Seeks Input On Transportation System

MARIPOSA COUNTY –  The Mariposa County Planning Department is conducting a survey of employee and resident transportation needs as part of the “Town of Mariposa Transit Center Feasibility Study.” Input from the community is very important to the process.

The study is funded by a Caltrans planning grant. The community is asked to please take a moment to download the fillable survey form, answer a few questions about your transportation experience in Mariposa County, and email the survey to: bfoucht@mariposacounty.org. The deadline to submit comments is Dec. 31, 2015.

The project addresses parking and multi-modal facilities (parking lots and structures, stops and staging areas, amenities); Bicycle and Pedestrian pathways, nodes and ADA Improvements; Wayfinding signs and information resources; and Financial Planning.

The purpose of the project is to identify one or more sites and related improvements that are central to the historic, rural Town of Mariposa, that will accommodate improved off-street parking and facilities to support transit, automobile, and non-motorized travel.

The stated goals of the project are economic vitality, safety, accessibility, environmental projection and sustainability, transportation integration, connectivity, and efficiency.

Community input will help will help to establish a “transportation context” for Mariposa, and assist officials in implementing transit amenities, parking and other improvements that will benefit residents, employees and visitors.
