Pilot Identified In Fatal Plane Crash In Mariposa

MARIPOSA – The man killed when a small plane crashed near the Mariposa -Yosemite airport last Thursday has been identified as Donald Corn, 80, of Mariposa, according to the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 10:10 a.m. on Thursday, Apr. 11, sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a plane possibly down in the 6000 block of Highway 49 North, near the Mariposa – Yosemite Airport.

With the use of a fixed wing aircraft manned by the Sheriff’s Office and the CHP helicopter, the small private plane was located in a rugged area off Highway 49 North.

Mariposa deputies along with Search and Rescue personnel responded to the crash site, where they determined that the pilot was deceased. The FAA is investigating.
