NORTH FORK – A full wildland fire response was called out when a report of a car fire in a heavily wooded area near North Fork came it to the Mariposa Command Center.
Dave Welfield was driving his Chevy pickup out Hadley Road just a few hundred feet of Road 200 when he says he looked in the rear view mirror and saw flames in the bed of the truck.
There was a gas can in the back, but he says he has no idea how the fire started.
Cal Fire Engine #4255 and #4275 were just moments away at the Rancheria Station on Walker Grade, and responded immediately, dousing the fire and eliminating the need for the remainder of the resources to respond.
