Perfect Attendance Pays Off

OAKHURST — A mom calls out to her son, “Harry, wake up! You’ll be late for school.” The son replies, “Mom, I don’t want to go to school — the teachers and students hate me! Give me one reason I should go?” The mom says back, “You should go because you’re the principal!”

Fortunately, 32 students at Oakhurst Elementary School (OES) listened to their parents and earned Perfect Attendance for the entire school year.

The students enjoyed a shopping spree at the Scholastic Book Fair on Monday, June 11, 2018. The honor is earned by getting to school every single day and being on time. Research strongly indicates that having excellent attendance correlates to academic success. The following students were honored at the last PRIDE Assembly of the year in front of the entire student body:

Congratulations to Jack Abshire, Wesley Bartlett, Jesus Cachu, Riley Dunbar, Jackson Ensminger, Kathryn Ensminger, Lorenzo Galindo, David Garcia, Luisa Garcia, Elizabeth Garcia, Annabell, Gracia, Troy Hendrickson, Wesley Hendrickson, Aiden McCarty, June Nagata, Kenshiro Nagata, Veronica Orozco, Ayden Pena, Brandon Perez, Kira Peugh, Logan Peugh, Cole Poplarchick, Marisol Ramirez, Ashlyn Reed, Autumn Reed, Naomi Sanchez, Blaze Signoriello, Isabella Solis, Maritza Solis, Fallon Vaughn, Shannon White and Cadence Williams.

“Our perfect attendance winners are outstanding citizens and academic scholars. On behalf of the entire OES staff, we wish to thank the parents for getting their children to school every day on time, and supporting their child’s academic success,” says OES Principal, Kathleen Murphy.
