By Bob Labozetta, UC Master Gardener, Mariposa

While we shelter-in-place, gardening can be the perfect pick-me-up. The UCCE Master Gardeners of Mariposa County are available to help answer your gardening questions. Directly access the UCCE Master Gardeners of Mariposa County website at http://cemariposa.ucanr.edu/Master_Gardener to obtain information. You can see what we are doing, access our radio show, send a question to our helpline or browse the myriad of articles and research-based information about various gardening topics in the Sierra Nevada foothills. Our website is regularly updated with new information, so please come back often to see what we have available.

Due to recent health concerns with the COVID-19, our office is currently closed to in-person visitations. However, our helpline has been working behind the scenes to answer your calls and emails with gardening questions. Volunteers will be available by phone or email on Thursdays from 2 – 5 p.m. You can drop off samples (plant parts or insects) at the front desk, and our helpline volunteers will contact you to address your concerns.

Feel free to call our helpline at 209-966-7078 or email us at mgmariposa@ucdavis.edu. We check messages regularly and will get back to you as soon as possible.

Our KRYZ Garden Radio program is going strong. If you would like the air-wave volunteers to address yours gardening concerns, email us your preferred topics to mgandkryz@gmail.com. June’s program focuses on caring for your oaks during the hot, dry foothill summer. Listen in to hear our host, Jeanne Ann Pine, as she interviews two UC Master Gardeners, Ron Allen and Kris Randal.
