Origami Fall and Christmas Decorations Workshop

Origami WorkshopOAKHURST – The Oakhurst Library is hosting a workshop presented by Carla Hyatt from Bakersfield. At the class, participants will make two sculpted Christmas wreaths and a Thanksgiving pumpkin. Carla will teach her audience how to use the ancient art of folding paper into various artistic shapes.

Carla is a retired math teacher and often used origami to demonstrate mathematic concepts to her middle-school students. Origami helped her teach fractions and geometry and now she is applying her skills to making these unique Christmas decorations.

“Give one-of-a-kind, handcrafted Christmas wreaths this year using origami.  Have fun and make something special, too,” says Carla. Anyone aged 11 and older is invited – children and adults. The class is limited to the first 40 people to pre-register at (559) 683-4838. All supplies will be provided. Each student make the decorations and can take their projects with them when they leave the class. Thank you to FOBL for sponsoring this event.

This special workshop will be held in the Community Room of the Oakhurst Library on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The Library is located at 49044 Civic Circle Drive in Oakhurst. If you have any questions, please call the Library at 559-683-4838 or visit www.oakhurstfobl.com

On the same day Carla will be teaching the same class at the North Fork Library located at 32908 Road 222, (559) 877-2387, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
