Open House At Oakhurst Community College

OAKHURST — The Oakhurst Community College Center will hold its annual Community Unity event on campus Tuesday, Apr. 12, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

This open house style event brings mountain area vendors, service groups, and colleges together to celebrate the mountain community.

There will be free food, music, workshops, and prize drawings. The public and community supporters are encouraged to attend.

Scheduled activities include:

  • Job Developer Workshop: “Interviewing & Thank You Letter” – 12 p.m. in Room OC 4
  • Financial Aid Workshop: FAFSA – 11:30 a.m. in Room OC 3
  • Tour of Oakhurst Center Campus – 1 p.m. meet at Room OC 1
  • Vendor & Information Booths – 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Some of this year’s local attendees include: First 5 of Madera County, Sierra Ambulance Service, Yosemite Western Artists, Madera County Workforce Investment Corporation, Sierra Telephone, Young Living Essential Oils, Yosemite Gateway Association of Realtors, Camarena Health, Soroptimist International of the Sierras, Roger’s Carpentry, Madera County Behavioral Health Services, Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce, Wells Fargo Bank, Madera County Connection, Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite, John C. Fremont Healthcare District, A Bed of Roses B&B, Head Start, Madera Community Action Partnership, Yosemite Area Audubon Society, Helping Hands Pregnancy and Parenting Center, Madera County Public Health, and Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System among others.

In addition, representatives from Fresno Pacific University and UC Merced will be in attendance to assist students seeking to transfer.

Reedley College and Oakhurst & Madera Community College Center faculty, Academic Counseling, Veterans’ Services, Financial Aid, Health Services, Job and Career Services, the OC Club, and Associated Student Government will also be available to provide information and answer questions.

The Oakhurst College Center is located off of Highway 41 on Civic Circle Drive behind the Rite Aid store in Oakhurst. The public and community members and welcome and encouraged to join in. For further information, please call 559-683-3940.
