OAKHURST — Permaculture designer and educator Marianna Burrett shares her passion in the first of a two workshops focusing on connection to nature and planting the seeds of health. Organized by nonprofit One Tribe Global, the initial workshop is on Saturday, Feb. 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Community Room at the Oakhurst Branch Library. Another follows in March.
Burrett’s focus is on sustainability, education and practice. Certified in Permaculture Design with the Regenerative Design Institute, the Oakhurst resident also holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology.
Seeds of Health — Connection to Nature will focus on relationship with nature, observing and identifying nature’s patterns, learning the meaning behind elements, and envisioning practical steps to enhance overall health and connection to the natural world.
“Now is the time for an upgrade to our planetary operating system and local resilience is an excellent start,” Marianna says.
The second of the two workshops is on Saturday, Mar. 24, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Oakhurst Library.
Seeds of Health — From Concept to Action participants will create a personal eco-garden design with the focus on planting seeds of health by putting the creative process into simple action plans.
Moving from theory to practice, Marianna will teach about the pieces of an eco-garden and then help as individuals assemble their pieces into a backyard ecosystem design. The emphasis is on permaculture techniques that allow for nature’s own design implementation.
Marianna says people will come away with a working plan for their own land, backyard, or even balcony.
“The sheer beauty of our location is an enduring reminder of the importance of caring for the earth in a manner that will provide for all as well as for generations to come.”
The cost for each workshop is $45. Click here to register online at One Tribe Global.
Marianna’s focus is to educate, empower and inspire people to make positive changes to the way they live their lives and how they view their world. People and ideas are encouraged and nurtured. In this increasingly uncertain world, she provides practical solutions and positive messages for dynamic, creative change. She presents curriculum that shares information and teaches skill sets designed to enhance a greater understanding of our relationship to tending the earth, in ways that create more real wealth, health and are truly sustainable.
