One Tribe Global: Earth/Energy Awareness

OAKHURST — As part of One Tribe Global’s Earth Energy Awareness class cycle, the group is offering a three workshops over the course of three months: Wildcrafting and Foraging, Geomancy and Magic Places, and Sacred Places and Vortexes of the Sierra.

Wildcrafting and Foraging

Wildcrafting and Foraging is led by senior biologist and local resident Wendy Fisher, who is also a plant ecologist and certified arborist. With a Bachelors of Science degree in Forest Ecology, and minors in Botany and Forestry, Wendy has extensive knowledge of the native and rare flora of California, with a particular interest in edibility and medicinal use of native plants.

Join Wendy at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 12 from 1 – 5 p.m. starting in the community room of the Oakhurst Branch Library. There, participants will learn important points along with “do’s and don’ts” before a roughly quarter-mile walk along the creek. Edible and inedible plants will be identified, while uses, medicinal and other qualities will be discussed. The group will return to the conference room for a question and answer session and some fun. Be sure to wear appropriate shoes.

Geomancy and Magic Places

Geomancy and Magical Places is led by Dan Shaw, who studied Alchemy and Geomancy, earning a B.S. in Geography in 2001. Dan has traveled extensively in the United States and abroad, researching sacred sites. His film and television appearances include Brad Meltzer’s Decoded: Devil’s Triangle, along with Alaska on the History Channel and the documentary Ancient Tomorrow. Dan also consulted for the History Channel’s Ancient Aliens, NBC’s The Blacklist and Travel Channel’s Mysteries of the National Parks: Yosemite.

In an introduction to Geomancy — Earth magic — Dan will share his mystical experiences and scientific research into paranormal places that he calls vortexes. Each hour includes activities to experience vortex energies, an opportunity for us to meet others and connect deeply, and time to draw on the wisdom of the group.

Join Dan on Saturday, June 9 from 1 – 5 p.m. at the Oakhurst Branch Library.

Sacred Places and Vortexes

Some places are magical. Magic needs no explanation. But is there a science behind Earth magic? Learn more about the forgotten discipline of Geomancy and how every place has a unique energy signature. Dan Shaw returns as participants in the workshop begin to identify and characterize vortexes, including how they correspond to the chakras, acupuncture meridians, and organs of the human body.

Join Dan at the Oakhurst Branch Library on Saturday, July 21 from 1 – 5 p.m.

For all classes, limited space available. Workshops are $45 per person per class or $120 if you register for May, June and July classes together.
