Madera County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Deputies rushed to the scene near the 46000 block of Road 417 after receiving a  911 call at approximately 3:30 p.m. reporting the attack. Upon arrival, first responders found a gruesome sight – a woman with severe injuries. Ultimately, the woman succumbed to her wounds. Immediately, deputies worked to secure the area and contain the aggressive canines responsible for the fatal mauling.

One Dog At Large

Animal Control officers attempted to take the dogs involved into custody as part of the investigation. However, during this process, two of the animals managed to break free from containment. The other dog, described as a large white pit bull mix, is currently at large.

Authorities are actively searching the surrounding area in an effort to locate and safely apprehend this potentially dangerous animal. In the meantime, the Sheriff’s Office is urging all residents in the vicinity to exercise extreme caution and vigilance. If any loose dogs are seen,  do not attempt to approach or interact with the animal under any circumstances. Instead, immediately contact 9-1-1. To ensure the safety and security of the community, the Sheriff’s Office will post a deputy in the area. The deputy will remain until the missing dog is successfully located and taken into custody.

The Investigation

The dogs’ owner has been fully cooperative with authorities as they begin the arduous process of piecing together the circumstances that led to this devastating incident. The Madera County Sheriff’s Office assures the public that a thorough investigation is underway. However, they caution that the case remains in its preliminary stages, with limited details available for release at this time.
