On Probation For Beating Puppy, Re-Arrested For Burglary

OAKHURST – An Oakhurst woman who was released from jail after being charged with burglary, is back behind bars once again, arrested for allegedly committing the same crime.

Janice Marie Mossman, 40, who also goes by the names Janice Marie Yale and Janice Marie Aguilar, was released on July 11, and was re-arrested on Sunday, July 28.

Mossman was detained Sunday by a grocery store manager who says he saw the suspect stuff a bottle of vodka in her purse and exit the store.

Deputy Sheriff John Terry took custody of Mossman, who is on probation for the beating of a puppy who subsequently died in August, 2012. She was transported down the hill to Madera County Department of Corrections where she is being held without bail.

Mossman, formerly known as Janice Aguilar, was sentenced on Apr. 9 to three years felony probation after she was found guilty of beating a puppy and stuffing the animal into her backpack, then refusing to get medical aid for the suffering dog.
