OCI Focus on Staff: Bonnie Mills

Mrs. Mills comes from a family of teachers

By Star Gongora and Cameron Foster —

OAKHURST — Bonnie Mills, known to her students as Mrs. Mills, is a 6th grade teacher at Oak Creek Intermediate (OCI) in the fields of English Language Arts and Social Studies.

She started teaching at Raymond-Knowles Elementary School and has been at OCI ever since. This year, Mrs. Mills began her 28th year as a teacher.

Mrs. Mills graduated from Yosemite High School (YHS) in 1983 and attended Fresno City College and CSU Fresno, graduating with a teaching credential in December of 1989.

Mills’ mother and father, as well as her maternal grandmother, were teachers. Mrs. Mills says the reason she became a teacher was because of her father, who taught at Sierra High School. Her hobbies outside of school are travel, hiking, and other sports.

She has two children. Jarrod is a junior at YHS who enjoys gaming and venturing. Ashley is an 8th grader at OCI, an athlete who likes basketball and volleyball. They both love their animals: Jarrod has a cat named Bobby, while Ashley has a rabbit named Billy. Bocephus is the family’s black Lab.

Mrs. Mills is a fantastic teacher and loves her students dearly.

Star and Cameron are students at Oak Creek Intermediate.

OCI is part of the Bass Lake School District.
