OAKHURST — An overnight burglary at a local wireless business shattered the early morning quiet — and the store’s front window. Surveillance cameras captured the crime and now authorities are hoping someone might recognize the thief.
In the pre-dawn hours Wednesday morning, Madera County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Ryan Lutz responded to the Oakhurst Verizon Wireless store regarding a report of a commercial burglary.
The store is located at 40015 Highway 49 near McDonald’s and Raley’s.
Some time around 4:30 a.m., a male suspect threw a large rock through the store’s front window in order to gain entry.
The burglar, who was wearing a dark-colored hoodie, then ripped two phones from their displays and fled on foot.
“We obtained a low resolution image from the surveillance camera and are hoping someone might recognize him,” said a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office.
