Oakhurst Scouts Place Flags To Honor Veterans

OAKHURST – Scout Troop 316 spent Saturday afternoon placing flags on the graves of those who served in honor of Veterans Day.

Members of Cub Scout Troop 316 gathered at Oakhill Cemetery to ensure that local veterans are recognized with colors flying on this special day.

For nearly 50 years, the scouts of Troop 341 performed this duty, and they have now been incorporated into Troop 316, which is continuing the tradition.

Almost 270 flags, donated by the Marine Corp League, were placed on veteran’s graves across the hillside.

Sierra Vista Church’s Boy Scout Troop 316, and Cub Scout Pack 316 will also have their annual Flag Retirement Ceremony at the rear of the church property on Sunday, Nov. 11, to honor our veterans. The ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m., and all local veterans, their families, and the general public are invited to attend.
