Oakhurst Murder Victim Identified, Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

george-taylor-windsorMADERA COUNTY — The suspect in the stabbing of a woman in Oakhurst on Tuesday was arraigned yesterday in Madera County Superior court, and pleaded not guilty on charges of first degree murder and attempted murder with premeditation and special circumstances of using a deadly weapon.

George Taylor-Windsor, 26, who moved to California recently from Wyoming, faces 30 years to life in prison if convicted on the charges.

Taylor-Windsor is charged in the death of Jessica Nelson, 23, of Foresthill, Calif. He is also accused of stabbing another occupant of the pickup in which they were all riding, sending that man to the hospital with multiple stab wounds. The injured man has been identified as Reid Kallenberg.

According to Madera County District Attorney David Linn, all involved were acquainted with each other, and all were from the same area, identified as Foresthill, Calif., by the Sheriff’s Office. Linn says all worked for or had relationship with one of the companies in the area performing hazardous tree removal.

When taken into custody immediately following the murder, Taylor-Windsor was booked on a $1 million bond. The D.A. was successful in getting that amount increased to $2.1 million during the arraignment.

Taylor-Windsor is scheduled to be back in court in Madera on Nov. 21 for a pre-preliminary hearing and bail review, when Linn says he will ask that bail be increased again.

The preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 29 in Bass Lake.

The victim, Jessica Nelson, also has an aka of Jessica Cartwright.
