MADERA COUNTY – A San Jose resident was killed on Wednesday, Feb. 27, when the car he was driving was struck by a 2009 Dodge, driven by a resident of Oakhurst, according to the CHP.
Charles Mark Hagood, 57, of Oakhurst, was eastbound on SR-152, just east of Road 7 at approximately 65 mph when, for unknown reasons, he allowed his vehicle to travel across the center median and into oncoming traffic.
An as-yet-unidentified 26-year-old man from San Jose, traveling west on SR-152 in a 2001 Chevy, was struck head-on by Hagood’s vehicle, and sustained fatal injuries.
The accident happened at about 5 p.m. Hagood received minor injuries and was transported to Madera Community Hospital. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to CHP.
