OAKHURST – One man is dead and another remains hospitalized following a fight last night in the backyard of a home located on Canoga Drive in Oakhurst.
The Sheriff’s Office received a call shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, advising that two males were in the backyard, and neither one was moving.
Steven George Rhoan, 50, of Oakhurst, died at the scene from injuries suffered during a fight with an unidentified 39-year-old male from Fresno. The surviving combatant, whose name is not being released at this time, was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. His condition is not known.
Detectives are still in the preliminary stages of their investigation, therefore few details are available.
The Sheriff’s Office confirms that the two men knew each other, and both reportedly had been drinking.
This is Madera County Sheriff’s second homicide this year.
