Oakhurst Grocery Outlet Community Raises More Than $6,000 to Fight Local Hunger
The Oakhurst community once again demonstrated the power of giving, raising more than $6,000 during Oakhurst Grocery Outlet‘s annual Independence From Hunger® campaign.
Throughout the campaign, customers generously donated at the register, rounded up purchases, and supported special fundraising efforts benefiting MY Club and Manna House. Every dollar raised will remain in the mountain community, helping provide food assistance, youth programs, and essential resources for local families experiencing food insecurity.
Midway through the campaign, Oakhurst Grocery Outlet brought the community together for a hot dog lunch fundraiser. With the help of amazing MY Club teen volunteers, customers enjoyed a great meal while raising even more money to support MY Club and Manna House.
The campaign concluded with a community celebration on July 31, featuring MY Club teens bagging groceries, a prize wheel, special giveaways, and a dollar-for-dollar matching challenge (up to $1000) from Oakhurst Grocery Outlet owners Brandon and Jessica Steele, encouraging even greater community participation.
“This campaign is a reminder of what makes our mountain communities so special,” said Brandon and Jessica Steele, owners of Oakhurst Grocery Outlet. “Our customers continually step up to help their neighbors, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who donated, volunteered, and supported this year’s campaign.”
The Steeles also expressed their appreciation to the many volunteers, MY Club staff and teens, community partners, and customers whose generosity made the fundraiser such a success.
Funds raised through Independence From Hunger will directly support the ongoing work of MY Club and Manna House, helping ensure local children, families, and seniors have access to nutritious food and critical community resources.
Oakhurst Grocery Outlet extends its sincere thanks to every customer, volunteer, employee, and partner who helped make this year’s campaign another tremendous success. Together, the community continues to demonstrate that even small acts of generosity can make a lasting impact.
