Oakhurst Grocery Outlet Celebrates 80 Years of Community and Savings

For many residents of the mountain communities, a trip to Oakhurst Grocery Outlet has become about more than finding a bargain. Over the past 13 years, the locally owned store has established itself as a familiar supporter of local schools, nonprofit organizations, youth programs and community events, making it a regular part of life in the greater Oakhurst area.

Now, owners Brandon and Jessica Steele are inviting the community to celebrate another milestone together.

On Saturday, Aug. 15, the Oakhurst Grocery Outlet will host a free community celebration marking Grocery Outlet’s 80th anniversary as a company. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the store, located at 40301 Junction Drive in Oakhurst.

While the anniversary recognizes Grocery Outlet’s eight decades of serving customers nationwide, the Steeles say the celebration is really about thanking the people who have supported the Oakhurst store over the years.

“Grocery Outlet has always been about more than great deals—it’s about serving the communities we call home,” Brandon and Jessica Steele said in a statement. “We’re excited to celebrate this milestone with the customers who have supported us and helped make our Oakhurst store such a special place.”

Visitors can expect a family-friendly afternoon featuring complimentary Simply Go ice cream while supplies last, a prize wheel, and giveaways throughout the event. Eighty lucky guests will receive prizes ranging from Grocery Outlet gift cards and fresh flowers to bakery treats and other surprises.

Although the company is celebrating 80 years in business, the Oakhurst location has a milestone of its own just around the corner. The store will celebrate its 13th anniversary on Sept. 26, marking more than a decade of serving residents and visitors throughout the mountain communities.

During that time, the store has built relationships with local nonprofits, schools and youth organizations while supporting food drives, community fundraisers and other local events. That ongoing involvement has helped make the Oakhurst Grocery Outlet more than just another grocery store—it has become a business many local organizations rely on as a community partner.

The Aug. 15 celebration offers residents an opportunity to enjoy an afternoon with neighbors while recognizing both the company’s history and the local store’s continued investment in the community.
