Oakhurst Debate For Sheriff And District Attorney

OAKHURST – Get to know the candidates running for Madera County Sheriff and District Attorney at a debate hosted by the Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 6 p.m. at the Oakhurst Community Center.

The candidates will be allowed two minutes for opening remarks and will field questions from a panel of reporters.

Written questions will be taken from audience members and presented by the moderator after each round of questions from the reporter panel.

Candidates for Sheriff are Michael Salvador, current Undersheriff of Madera County, and Jay Varney, Chief of Police for the City of Chowchilla.

Running for reelection as District Attorney is Michael Keitz, challenged by long-time Oakhurst attorney David Linn.

The moderator for the evening’s discourse will be past Chamber President Greg Chappel.

The debate is sponsored by Sierra Asset Management and Emadco Disposal Service.

The Oakhurst Community Center is located at 39800 Road 425B in Oakhurst.
