Oakhurst Community Barn Dance

The Central Valley Tea Party Young Patriots (CVTPYP) invites everyone to the Oakhurst Community Barn Dance on Saturday, May 12th. This is a fundraiser for the Family Freedom Fest, which will take place over the 4th of July weekend. The Saturday night Barn Dance will be held at the Oakhurst Community Center, located at 39800 Road 425B, from 5 to 9pm.

The CVTPYP is an off shoot of the Central Valley Tea Party, and was launched in January 2012 to educate children and young adults about the United States Government. They meet every month in Oakhurst, and each monthly meeting has a different briefing (theme). The topics range from The Bill of Rights to The Articles of Confederation and Foreign Policy.

To keep young minds engaged, there is a training mission in which the members can earn points which are later exchanged for prizes. At the end of the meeting, the group is quizzed on what they learned during the briefing, allowing them an opportunity to earn even more points.

Children and young adults between the ages of 7 and 18 are invited to attend the CVTPYP meetings, which are held the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm at the Yosemite New Life Church, located at 40390 Junction Drive in Oakhurst.

The young people of the CVTPYP are doing their part to raise money for the summer celebration of Independence Day, and they invite everyone to join them for the Barn Dance. There will be music provided by a DJ, instruction for line and contra as well as free style dancing. There will also be food and drinks available for purchase, including Country Chili, Corn Bread, Cobbler and Ice Cream.

Admission is just $2.00 at the door, or you can send an e-mail to oakhurstbarndance@gmail.com for advance tickets.
