OAKHURST – If you were one of the estimated eight-or-nine hundred people who came out on the first Saturday of December for the annual Oakhurst Community Christmas Tree lighting, then you already know it was a joyful night.

It’s been nearly twenty days since then, and the 55-foot tall tree is still shining on the Talking Bear corner, now being gently swathed in snow.

Billie Ditton confirms the evening was a big success, and offered up a “huge thank you to the community for making this event so much fun year after year,” including but not limited to: Golden 1 Credit Union, WJ Bradley, Wasuma School PTA, Vision Academy of the Arts, Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce, Yosemite Dance Company Elite Team, Chamber Maids, YHS Choir, Country Fair Cinnamon Rolls, McGoldrick & McGoldrick, Crab Cakes, Dr. Rodney Peter and family, California CHP, Madera County Sheriff’s Office, Central Cal Animal Disaster Team (CCADT), Eppler Towing, Cal Fire, Oakhurst Feed & Pet Supply, Doug Gandy (KettleKorn), Jim Hobbs (Mountain Top Media), Jim Elliott (Children’s Museum of the Sierra) Virginia Lazar Photography, Boys & Girls Club of Oakhurst, Diamond W Miniatures pony rides, Sandy and Vicky Blondell (petting zoo), Sierra Telephone, and Century 21 Ditton Realty, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and everyone who helped out in one way or another.
