OAKHURST — The Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce invites the community to honor a handful of especially dedicated community members at the 2016 Installation Dinner and Award Ceremony at the Bass Lake Conference Center at the Pines Resort, on Friday, Jan. 15. Doors open for the reception at 6 p.m. The Chamber announced late last year that Doug Dearing is the recipient of the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest possible honor the Chamber gives, presented only to those whose contributions to the community are deemed extraordinary through many years of service.

“Doug has served our local community in about every civic endeavor imaginable,” says Dan Rule, 2015 Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce President. “For more than 20 years he has tirelessly impacted our community by supporting our local service clubs and organizations. He has quietly advocated for our community’s social and economic wellbeing becauase he simply believed it was the right thing to do.”

The Chamber’s award selection committee announced the recipients of the Man of the Year, Woman of the Year, and Business of the Year awards.

2015 Man of the Year is Steve Welch of Bass Lake Realty

2015 Woman of the Year is Donna Smith of Foster and Parker Insurance

2015 Business of the Year is Oakhurst Feed & Pet Supply

The 2015 Executive Director’s Award goes to the Madera County Office of Emergency Services, Cal Fire Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit, Sierra National Forest Bass Lake Ranger District.

The entire mountain community is invited to join the celebration and honor the 2015 award recipients, recognize the 2015 outgoing chamber board members and welcome the new incoing 2016 chamber officers and directors. The Installation Dinner and Award Ceremony has become an annual community tradition, say organizers, where friends, family and neighbors recognize and honor local heroes for years of selfless service to the community.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for the reception, dinner begins at 7 p.m. and the awards will be presented after dinner. The cost for the evening is $45 per person which includes dinner catered by Ducey’s on the Lake. Advance registration is required and the final count for meals is requested by 6 p.m. on January 13. Sponsors for the event include Sierra Tel, Vulcan Materials, and Yosemite Bank.
