Oakhurst Chamber Hosts Community Mixer

OAKHURST—Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce invites the community to an open house/mixer at its office on Thursday, April 21. The festivities take place from 5 pm to 7 pm and will feature cuisine from Glow Cafe; beer, wine and soft drinks “on the house” and—best of all—networking with friends and business associates new and seasoned. Lynn Fullmer provides the music for the mixer. The event is open to the public, so if you’ve had questions about what the Chamber of Commerce does—or what it can do for you—now’s your opportunity. Meet the board of directors, discuss your concerns, learn how the Chamber can support your business.

Chamber President Wade Wheeler affirms that the 2022 Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce is coming back from over a year of shutdowns and slow downs and promises that OACC plans a personal outreach to each of its members. “After over a year of cancelled events, the Oakhurst Chamber of Commerce is ‘back in business.’ Our 2021 Oakhurst Fall Festival, the most successful in its 27 year history, led the way. In 2022 we’ve already hosted a Member Appreciation/Installation Dinner, two mixers and three Women in Business lunches.  It seems that people are ready to get out again. ”

The Chamber began its planning for this year’s Oakhurst Fall Festival (2022 dates are October 7, 8 and 9) in March and continues full bore until the recap afterwards. The Fall Festival hosts thousands of people during the three-day program and is the Chamber’s principal fundraiser of the year.

Judi Hussain escaped from the big city to the wilds of eastern Madera County over thirty years ago. During her time here she’s worked at selling doors and windows, coordinated Road Scholar adventures at a local conference center and served as visitor center coordinator for Visit Yosemite Madera County. After the COVID shutdown upended her world, she "enjoyed" her first retirement months ever and couldn't wait to get back to work. When offered a position in January 2021 as the chamber administrator for Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce, she grabbed it and held on tight. Her diverse passions include hiking, beading, dog mushing (observer, not participant), travel, writing and languages. The shutdown offered an opportunity to expand on her journeys to Israel in 2016 and 2018, and she’s now studying Hebrew in preparation for a return to the land she uexpectedly grew to love. She’s investigating other travel prospects, as well, targeted toward the end of 2022.
