MIDPINES — The Oak Fire that has been burning since July 22nd, 2022 at 2:10 pm has now charred more than 18,000 acres with containment of 26%.
FIRIS has mapped the fire at 18,087 acres as of 8:30 am this morning.
UPDATE – July 26th at 2:05 pm:
The following areas for the Oak Fire have been reduced to fire advisements:
• Darrah Road from Bootjack Lane to Quail Ridge Drive including all side roads to the edge of the fire
• Cole Road including all side roads
• Silva Road from Carleton Road to Van Ness Road
• Carleton from Silva Rd to Indian Rock Lane including Indian Rock Lane
• Allred Road
• Morningstar Road including all side roads
These will be open to residents living in the area only. You must show your ID to enter.

The fire has destroyed 25 single-residence homes and damaged 2 more. It has also destroyed 16 outbuildings and damaged 1 other. 1440 structures are still threatened by the fire. Damage

The Red Cross Evacuation Center remains open at Mariposa Elementary School, 5044 Jones St., Mariposa.
CAL FIRE had a nighttime water-dropping copter working overnight on a couple of areas on the northern end of the fire.
Fire crews continue providing structure defense, extinguishing hot spots, and building and improving direct fire lines.
Persistent drought, critically dry fuels, and tree mortality continue to contribute to the fire’s spread.

Humidity levels were slightly higher overnight as monsoonal moisture began to move in. Humidity is forecasted to begin to trend higher, aiding the efforts of the fire crews.
Smoke from the fire is producing poor visibility to the north of the fire during the day and across the fire at night. For the most current smoke outlook click here: Smoke Outlook
Fire restrictions and closures near the fire area are in place in the Sierra National Forest, This closure will support public safety by keeping the public out of hazardous burn areas and will allow firefighting resources to combat the fire without public interference.
