NORTH FORK – Over 50 students from 4th and 5th grades at North Fork School “traveled” to the Recreation Center on Friday, May 31, to experience a journey through history, with different hands-on activities, stories, music and dance.
Some of the activities included wood-working, old fashioned school games, chalk work, and pioneer story telling.
There was even a General Store where the students could purchase snacks with gold nuggets and chili for lunch.
All of the students dressed and represented themselves as men and women in American history, and specifically California history, who made a difference in shaping our country and our beautiful state of California.
Throughout the day the students introduced themselves, explaining to participants and visitors who they were and why they are famous.
Their journey concluded that day with the children performing original skits, songs and dance, with the Virginia Reel Dance as their grand finale.
