North Fork Man Tries To Bury Stolen Car

MADERA COUNTY – Shane Anthony Shaffer, 35, of North Fork remains jailed at this hour, accused of trying to bury a stolen car.

He was taken into custody Sunday afternoon, July 28, after authorities received a tip at around 12:30 p.m. The anonymous caller stated subjects at a residence on Wyle Ranch Road in North Fork were trying to bury a stolen car.

When Deputy Jeff Noland arrived on scene he saw a dozer and a car that had been virtually stripped – tires gone, door panels missing, and parts of the vehicle’s dash board removed.

Upon inspection, Deputy Noland discovered that the car, a 2013 silver 4-door Ford Focus, had been reported stolen out of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Shaffer, who claims the car was left on his property by a friend, was transported down the mountain where he was booked into Madera County Department of Corrections for possession of stolen property. His bail set at $10,000.
