MARIPOSA – Mariposa FC Boys U-13 NorCal Club Soccer is on the lookout for athletes who would like to play on Mariposa Fire Club Soccer Team. Boys under age 13  as of July 31 and at least 11 years old are needed to play.

Practice will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at Mariposa High School Lower Field.

“It’s a really high level club soccer program and they have a lot of great opportunities and some of the top teams,” says Adam Finney.

“We’re really based on development, because we know our players need development in order to play in college. At this point we know it’s still a work in progress but we aim for players to hit their competitive peak at around age 16 so they’re able to play at the highest level possible.”

The organization is a nonprofit with affordable club fees of $20 a month, payable only during the months teams are in session. They also have scholarships in place for students and families that need them.

Finney explains that NorCal places a high emphasis on player development and coach education.

“NorCal brings over coaching directors from European academies who instruct coaches and players in the professional European methodology. This summer they brought over an assistant coach from Manchester United, and they brought over an academy director from Benfica, Portugal, and a director from Florence, Italy, and other notable European coaches.”

When coaches register with NorCal these coaching opportunities are free for them, says Finney.

“We as a Club are looking to charter more teams to serve the foothill communities and, if someone wants to, they could potentially charter a team through our organization. As far as I know we are the smallest population base of any club in NorCal premiere, so we need to network with local communities and give kids from anywhere in striking distance the chance to be part of this.”

Games will be played in Mariposa and the Fresno area starting Saturday, August 29 through November 14. For more information call Janis Kunz at (209) 372-9244 or email Janice. You can also contact Adam Finney at (209) 628-2781 or email Adam.

Organizers add that interested players can simply come to practice on Wednesday, August 26th and check it out.
