No More Sweet Treats: Oakhurst Bakery Closes

OAKHURST — Pastry Brasil bakery in Junction Plaza has closed just four months after bringing exotic treats like chocottone and brigadeiros to the heart of Oakhurst.

Owner Mary Moreira Holt announced the bakery’s impending end on the business’s Facebook page earlier this week, although that post — and the page itself — has since been taken down.

In a now-deleted Facebook post, Holt attributed the shuttering of the business to her husband Greg’s deteriorating health and said she planned to travel with him to Brazil to seek medical treatment.

Greg Holt, a contractor and custom home builder in Bass Lake, handled all of the renovation work on the bakery, which previously had been the site of Time for Tea tea house and gift shop.

Holt said Thursday that she is trying to find a buyer for her business or a new tenant to take over her lease.

“I did not plan on closing this soon but I have to take care of my husband,” she said.

Sierra News Online covered the bakery’s opening earlier this spring.
