Need an Easy Holiday Appetizer? S|N|O Readers Share

We asked S|N|O fans on Facebook to fork over some favorite “make-and-take” holiday appetizers.

Here’s how you responded:

Warning: do not read on an empty stomach!

Reader Amy Beebe makes bacon and cream cheese-studded jalapenos as her “go-to” dish, adding “it’s not restricted to the holidays. They’re always a hit!”Desiree Dean Petros likes hot spinach-artichoke dip. Who doesn’t?

Sarah Crotinger likes pigs in a blanket, with a holiday twist: “little smokies wrapped in crescent roll dough with a cranberry BBQ sauce for dipping.” Yum

The folks at Manzanita Estates vote for an appetizer featuring “pickles and pepperoncinis wrapped in salami with a bit of cream cheese.” We concur!

Cathy Sciacca makes a batch of hot pepper jam every summer and uses it all year long. Start with an 8 oz. block of room temperature cream cheese. “I whip this up and then start adding hot pepper jam until it tastes like I want it to,” says Sciacca. “I serve it with Wheat Thins. I have a zillion recipes for appetizers because my family loves finger foods, but by far this is the easiest and everyone loves it.”

Sherry Nooner Stone recommends deviled eggs, “Alabama style.” We don’t know what that means, but we’re hoping Sherry will get back to us with the recipe. Hurry, Sherry, we’re hungry and we’re waiting!

Do you have a favorite holiday appetizer you’d like to share with S|N|O? We’d like to publish your recipe. Send yours to recipes@sierranewsonline.com, and we’ll get everybody cookin’ for the holidays! Photos are always greatly appreciated.
