Nearly 7,000 Plants Siezed In Pot Bust

MARIPOSA – A San Juan Capistrano man has been arrested for cultivating marijuana near Mariposa, according to the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office.

Salvador Gonzalez, 33, was taken into custody on Friday, Mar. 22, at a residence on Sullivan Road in Mariposa, after deputies served a warrant and found 6,993 live marijuana plants being grown inside the house and outside on the property.Several items of evidence were collected also, including two firearms, grow lights and ballasts, says the sheriff’s office.

Gonzalez was booked into the Mariposa County Adult Detention Facility for the illegal cultivation of marijuana, and is also on an immigration hold per Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Bail was set at $40,000.
