National Park Service Employee Missing In Yosemite

YOSEMITE — Another man is missing and thought to be inside Yosemite National Park, and authorities are seeking the public’s help to locate him.

Search and Rescue teams in Yosemite are looking for John Blevins Cogdell, III, an employee of the National Park Service. John is 5′ 10″ tall and weighs about 200 pounds, with blonde/gray hair and blue eyes.

John was reportedly last seen on Wednesday, Aug. 15, in Upper Pines Campground in Yosemite Valley. It is unknown what clothing he is wearing.

Anyone who has seen John Cogdell or any abandoned equipment in the park since Aug. 15, or has any information regarding John, is asked to please contact the National Park Service Investigative Services Branch at 888-653-0009 or email nps_isb@nps.gov.

Information is also sought on the whereabouts of missing hiker Scott Tenczar, last seen at the Bridgeport Ranger Station on Wednesday, July 25. Tenczar, 48, is described as an experienced hiker who knows the area well. Yosemite National Park reports say he planned to backpack from Robinson Creek to Crown Lake, Matterhorn Canyon, Smedberg Lake, Seavey Pass and Peeler Lake. Anyone who was in those areas since Tenczar was last seen is asked to contact the NPS.
