Great Results From Kids Bass Lake Triathlon

BASS LAKE – Early Saturday morning, Sept. 6, the lake and area surrounding Miller’s Landing was the place to be, as the 2nd Annual My Tri Mountain Area Youth Triathlon was underway with more than 100 enthusiastic young participants.

From the looks of things, everyone had a really great time.

The triathlon consisted of three race distances and was open to all kids ages 5 through 17. The “Dash Distance,” included a 50 yard swim, 2 mile bike ride and .5 mile run. Final results from all events are at the bottom of the page.

The “Ace Distance,” new this year, featured a 200 yard swim, 8 mile bike ride, and 2 mile run, and was expected to appeal to some of the older athletes at the race.

“It’s great training for any sport,” said Michelle Miller of Miller’s Landing about the race, “and gives the kids a sense of accomplishment when they finish.”

The successful event was sponsored again this year by the Children’s Educational Foundation to promote healthy living for our mountain area youth. The proceeds from My Tri are said to go to the North Fork School Athletics Department and their Art Enrichment Program.
