Music on the Green Returns with Jam Bands and Local Rock

The Mariposa County Arts Council‘s popular Music on the Green concert series continues next weekend with two more free outdoor performances at the Mariposa County Art Park, bringing together a mix of regional talent and hometown musicians for another weekend of live entertainment.

Now in its 35th season, Music on the Green has become a summer tradition in downtown Mariposa, offering free concerts every Friday and Saturday evening from June through August. The series features a diverse lineup of folk, bluegrass, rock, jazz, reggae, country and world music, drawing both local residents and Yosemite visitors to the community’s outdoor Art Park.

The Friday, Aug. 7 performance will feature Jerry’s Briefcase, a Hanford-based jam band that blends influences from Jerry Garcia, the Grateful Dead, Phish and reggae while also performing original music. The band returns to Music on the Green after previous appearances and is expected to appeal to fans of improvisational rock and classic jam-band sounds.

On Saturday, Aug. 8, the spotlight turns to local talent with Groove Garden, a Mariposa band made up of musicians who have been performing in the community for years. The trio features Billy Dewitt on bass, Kyle Lindquist on drums and Cary Greenamyer on guitar, performing a mix of classic rock favorites—including songs by The Beatles—alongside original music influenced by punk, blues and hard rock.

Both concerts begin at 7 p.m. at the Mariposa County Art Park, located at 5013 Highway 140 in historic downtown Mariposa. Admission is free, although audience members are encouraged to tip the performers. Parking is available along Fourth and Fifth streets, with accessible pedestrian access from the lower Fifth Street parking lot through the Mariposa Creek Parkway entrance.
