OAKHURST – On Friday, May 31, Velocity Elite Dance Company will be sponsoring a Dancer’s Showcase at Yosemite High School Theater.
This is the third year we will be holding a “Dancer’s Showcase,” however this year we invited studios and dance programs from around the mountain community to take part in this event.We are very pleased to have the Mariposa Academy of Performing Arts as well as the Mariposa High School Dance Club joining us for our first annual Mountain Area Dancer’s Showcase, with dancers that range from 6 to 17 years in age.
The Mountain Area Dancer’s Showcase plans to bring some of our most talented, hardworking and promising young dancers together for an evening of entertainment open to the entire mountain community.
The children performing spend endless hours practicing and preparing for various performances in the mountain area as well the central valley. Some have taken part in dance competitions, dance festivals and Nutcracker performances at the Saroyan Theater in Fresno with the Sacramento Ballet.
Our dancers will be performing a variety of genres including ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, lyrical and tap.
Refreshments and tickets for door prizes will be included in the price of admission. Many businesses from our area have donated gift certificates, art work and other items. Yosemite Zip Lines, Solstice Salon, Michael Frye Photography, Bear Paw Fabric, just to name a few
Please join us on Friday, May 31, 6:30 pm at the Yosemite High School Theater for an evening of delightful entertainment.
$12 adult tickets (includes 5 door prize tickets) and $6 for child/student with school ID.
Velocity Dance Company is located in Oakhurst, comprising of children ages 6 to 17, and has been in existence for the past 10 years. We are excited to be continuing our success in regional dance competitions with Velocity Dance Studio.
Last year the team won Elite Top Award, and two High Gold Awards, while individuals won Platinum and High Gold Awards. Dancers placed in the top 10 out of over 150 competing dancers. The team was selected to dance in New York this past summer.
This year the team plans to participate in 5 regional competitions with character and ballet performances and 12 solo dancers. Next year our goal is to compete at the national level.
As we are sure you are aware, it is expensive to take a team to competitions. We are raising funds to help defray the cost of the competition fees, costume costs and rehearsal fees.
The dance company is a venue where the children can express themselves in a positive and encouraging environment. The dancers learn responsibility and physical development thereby building their self esteem.
The dancers will have an opportunity to win scholarships at various dance competitions. Some of these dancers are aspiring to attend nationally acclaimed dance schools such as Julliard. Your contributions would help these dancers further their paths toward these goals.
Any sponsorship you consider for these dancers would be greatly appreciated and you would be supporting a great cause. The Velocity Dance Company is pleased to announce that it has a tax-exempt, nonprofit status and as such, can offer you a tax donation receipt.
