MOC To Hold A Community Forum In Oakhurst

Oakhurst Community Forum to Promote Discussion About Madera County Policies

COARSEGOLD — The Madera Oversight Coalition (MOC) and Sierra Citizens for Sensible Waste Management will hold a community forum on Madera County’s response to organic waste regulations and transportation issues on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, at the Oakhurst Community Center beginning at 6:30 p.m. The community center is located at 39800 425B, Oakhurst.

Presentations will include an update by Sierra Citizens for Sensible Waste Management on the county’s waste management program and their plans to add a third trash can to our garbage service for an additional fee.

The group will also discuss the new Measure T ½ Cent Renewal Road Tax on the November ballot, extending the tax forever without voter input. The current Measure T tax will expire in 2027.

Each of these items – waste management and transportation – will permanently affect all rural county residents. People are encouraged to attend the forum and become informed on these issues before casting their vote in November.

A primary objective of MOC is to encourage responsible growth through the adherence to California Land Use Law, and Madera County general plan policies and to promote the health, safety, and welfare of the public within Madera County.
