Missing Man Found Near Shaver Lake

SHAVER LAKE – A man reported missing near Shaver Lake on Wednesday, Mar. 12, has been located.

Shortly after 2 p.m. today, 21-year-old Kenneth Young was located near Dinkey Creek & Highway 168 in eastern Fresno County.

When he was found, Young was suffering from dehydration and a lower leg injury which he received from a motorcycle accident yesterday, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

Young’s father reported him missing Wednesday afternoon after receiving a text from his son advising that he had injured his ankle and was somewhere in the Shaver Lake area. Deputies responded, and by 4 p.m. yesterday, a full blown search for the young man had been initiated.

During the search, it was learned that Young had an outstanding felony narcotics warrant for his arrest, says the Sheriff’s Office.

This afternoon while Sheriff’s supervisors were reassessing the search, the crew of Eagle One – the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office helicopter – spotted someone they believed to be Young along Dinkey Creek approximately three miles from Highway 168. The crew was able to direct searchers to the subject’s location where they determined it was in fact the missing man.

Young was transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
