Minarets’ Bob Kelly Is SJVCSS Teacher Of The Year

O’NEALS – Minarets High School teacher Bob Kelly is the choice the High School Teacher of the Year for the 2014-15 school year, as determined by the San Joaquin Council for the Social Studies (SJVCSS).

Minarets Principal Daniel Ching agrees that SJVCSS made an excellent pick.

“Bob Kelly is the AP US History teacher, AP Econ and Gov teacher, Psychology teacher, and the head football coach at Minarets,” Ching explains.

“He has an equal amount of energy and determination in each of these areas. You will not often find a head football coach that is just as serious about his students passing AP exams or learning about our country’s history as much as Mr. Kelly.”

Ching says Kelly requires his students to think critically, and not accept anything at face value.

“You will hear deep questions in his class and will witness students who are deeply engaged in meaningful conversations. He is an incredible teacher who mixes effective teaching strategies and questioning with technology, in a way that inspires his students to be young professionals.”

Bob Kelly received his award at the SJVCSS Awards Banquet in May.
