Midpines Man Arrested For Murder

MARIPOSA – One man is dead and another is in custody after a shooting in the community of Midpines on Saturday, Dec. 1.

At about 9 p.m., Mariposa County sheriff’s deputies and detectives responded to a disturbance call at a residence on Rancheria Creek Road. Emergency Medical Services was also called to the scene.Gordon R. Crisp, 43, of Midpines, who was a tenant at the residence, was found deceased when authorities arrived, according to the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office.

After the on-scene investigation, Jeffrey L. Clark, 51, was arrested, and booked into the Mariposa County jail on murder charges. He is being held on $1 million bail.

The investigation into the circumstances of the alleged crime continue. Mariposa County Sheriff and Coroner Doug Binnewies says an autopsy is expected to be completed on Tuesday, Dec. 4.
