About the Merced County Fair

Image of a carnival ride at the Merced County Fair. The Merced County Fair is an annual event that takes place in the Central Valley of California. It’s a celebration of agriculture, community, and all things fun. For five days each summer, the fairgrounds come alive with a wide variety of exhibits, entertainment, and food.

One of the main attractions at the Merced County Fair is the livestock exhibit. Local farmers and ranchers showcase their prized animals, including cows, pigs, sheep, and goats. Visitors can see the animals up close and even pet some of the more docile ones. The livestock exhibit is not only a great way to learn about agriculture, but it also serves as a reminder of the importance of farming in the region.

Another popular exhibit at the fair is the art show. Artists from all over the Central Valley submit their work for a chance to be featured in the show. The art is as diverse as the region itself, with everything from traditional oil paintings to modern digital prints. The art show is a great way to support local artists and appreciate the beauty of the Central Valley.

Previous performers include Huey Lewis and the News, Kellie Pickler, and the Beach Boys. In addition to music, the fair also features a demolition derby, rodeo, and carnival rides. There’s something for everyone at the Merced County Fair.

Perhaps the most beloved aspect of the Merced County Fair is the food. From the classic fair staples like funnel cakes and corn dogs to more unique offerings like deep-fried Oreos and bacon-wrapped hot dogs, the food at the Merced County Fair is not for the faint of heart. The fair also has a reputation for creating outrageous food combinations, like the “s’mores burger” that features a beef patty topped with chocolate and marshmallows. While some may balk at these unconventional food options, they are a big draw for many fairgoers.

One of the most popular is the Junior Livestock Auction, where local 4-H and FFA members sell their animals to support their clubs and fund their projects. The fair also hosts a cooking competition, a talent show, and a pie-eating contest. These events add an extra layer of excitement to the already bustling fairgrounds.

Overall, the Merced County Fair is a testament to the community spirit and agricultural heritage of the Central Valley. It brings together people from all walks of life to celebrate the region’s accomplishments and have a great time. Whether you’re there for the food, the entertainment, or just the atmosphere, the Merced County Fair is a must-see event for anyone in the area.
