OAKHURST – Memorial Services for Jacob Schumaker, who passed away on Jan. 19, will be held this Saturday, Jan. 26, at 3 p.m. at the Oakhurst Community Center.
Friends and family have invited anyone who would like to share about Jake at the memorial service to do so, or just write down their thoughts. There will be a box set up to collect those notes, and they will be read at the service.
There will also be a decorated box for anyone who would like to write a personal letter to Jake, that will be sent off with him.
Friends are also invited to come early to help set up, and bring along any photos they want to share.
“Maybe if you have some punk posters, too-punk, ska, etc. that you can bring, we can see what we can use that won’t be too alarming for attendees, but cool for Jake, what he would want,” post friends on Facebook.
Flowers will be accepted at the Community Center beginning at 1 p.m.
There will be time after the memorial for people to socialize and continue to share their feelings. Jacob loved stories, especially if they were funny, and they will be welcomed.
A memorial fund has been set up in Jake’s name at www.facebook.com/jacobschumakermemorialfund. Donations can be made through Paypal, or checks can be mailed to %SierraNewsOnline, P.O. Box 333, North Fork, Ca 93643. Please make checks payable to Nick Schumaker.
Come celebrate the life and times of Jake Schumaker – gone too soon.
