MARIPOSA – The next weekend of the free Summer Concert Series, Music on the Green at The Art Park in historic downtown Mariposa, features Meltwater Bridge on Friday, July 13, and Saltwater on Saturday, July 14.

Meltwater Bridge provides distinct rhythm and color to songwriter/leader, Gail Dreifus’s original neo-folk songs. Dreifus is a lifelong singer, songwriter and guitarist formerly based in El Portal, now Mariposa, and has been a fixture of the burgeoning local music scene for many years now.

Dreifus has performed at the Strawberry Music Festival, Millpond Music Festival and at National Parks including Yosemite, Zion and Grand Canyon. She also produces the annual Yosemite Songwriter Retreat that features workshops with renowned songwriters like Joe Craven, Peter Rowen, Terre Roche and Eliza Gilkyson. Saltwater had an unusual debut at Music on the Green last year, being the first band scheduled to play after the evacuation of Mariposa due to the massive Detwiler Fire. The last-minute idea of transforming their show into the first of many local fire victim relief benefits didn’t phase the group at all, and they helped raise thousands for the cause.

Raised amid the farmlands of California’s Central Valley, the down and dirty Saltwater are certifiably organic, through and through. Carrying a deep bag of tricks from their eclectic musical backgrounds – from swamp rock to rockabilly, from jam band groove to shoegazing smooth – Saltwater produces a sound that’s derivative, but solidly their own. We welcome their return.

Visit www.mariposaartscouncil.org for the complete 2018 season line-up and more.
